The Etiquette of Ordering Pizza

I have come to realize that people do not know the etiquette of ordering on the phone. It seems like every friday night when there is 5 people waiting for slices, 2 people on hold and there I am stuck on the phone with someone who is taking FOREVER.

It’s common sense people. Before you call at least take the time to tell your family that you are ordering pizza for dinner. I can’t count how many times I have answered the phone then for the next  5 minutes they are walking around their house asking their kids, aunts and husbands what they want for dinner. Plus they have to explain to their families that they are order pizza. This is my time that you are wasting here! They place the order then call back 5 minutes later and want to change everything because the kids don’t want chicken strips anymore they want another pizza.

Also, don’t be surprised that when you order a stuffed pizza and I tell you it will be 40 minutes. A stuffed pizza takes 40 minutes to cook. There is nothing I can do for it to cook faster. Unless you would like an undercooked pizza, it takes 40 minutes.

The other day I was on the phone with a man for at least 10 minutes. He kept asking for coupons. I am only allowed to give certain kinds of coupons to people who don’t actually have a coupon. But he insisted that he wanted 10% off his entire order. Why would I give him 10% off? I tried to give him $2 off or $3 dollars off of a bigger pizza. But he insisted on the discount. He finally ended up ordering a 16″ with 3 toppings and I gave him a $3 dollar off coupon just to please him. There is only so much that I can do.

There is only so much I can do about prices. This is considered a finer pizza place. It is not Dominoes that you order for a group of teenage boys who will eat anything. This being said, don’t be surprised that our pizza is more expensive but it is also 2 times bigger than what you were ordering before. Plus, complaining to me about the prices is not going to get you any closer to the prices that you want to pay for. It is out of my hands.

It is nice when I have a person who orders at least every week and we both know the order of how this conversation is going to go. Phone number, order, delivery or pick-up, total. It takes less than 5 minutes and it makes both of our lives easier.

  1. I once ordered a pizza and got it home to realize it had no cheese. When I called the pizza place I was told by the kid “You didn’t specifically ask for it.” I pointed out that I hadn’t specifically asked for suace or dough either.

  2. wow, I can’t believe people actually try to dicker with the friggen pizza place! I bet you those are the same people who will argue with a cashier for 20 minutes over a 15 cent coupon.
